Monthly Meetings and Events
 
Historical Sewing Society Meetings.......On the first Saturday of each month this group meets at the Columbia Co. Historical Museum in Lake City.  They endeavor to recreate historically accurate clothing, accessories, and parlor crafts for ladies and children of the 1800's.  This is done through shared research,  guest speakers, workshops and seminars.  Each monthly meeting includes a period project or participation in a living history event and always lots of fun!  If you would like to be added to their email list for monthly meeting information or need help with a period sewing project, contact Glenda Reed historicsewing@aol.com
 
The Golden Teacup Society......The society has monthly meetings (second Sunday of each month) at Walter Jones Historical Park in Mandarin (South Jacksonville).  They meet from 2 to 4pm, and do a period activity (handcraft, sewing, impression improvements) and just fellowship.  For more information, directions or to get on their e-mail list, contact Shorty Robbins at GoldTeacup@aol.com

The Greater Orlando Civil War Roundtable.......The Orlando Roundtable meets every 4th Thursday at 730pm.  The meetings are held at the Marks Street Senior Center at 99 E. Fort Clinch Federal and Confederate Garrisons..........Living historians recreate life at Fort Clinch during the War Between the States.  Activities may include black powder artillery demonstrations, marching drills, as well as soldiers and civilians taking up duty in the laundry, infirmary and kitchen.  Please pre-register prior to the event.  $10 per person covers entire weekend at the fort including your food on Saturday and Sunday.  GPS position: N30.41.834  W081.26.113  Contact Fred Jackobson at CSArooster@adelphia.net
 
Living History Group.  "Circa Of Friends".  Meetings will be held every third (3rd) Sunday of the month, unless otherwise noted, at the Maitland Historical Society's "Garden Clubhouse" from 1:00 until 3:00pm.  If you are a 19th Century enthusiast who enjoys learning and expressing the culture, customs and crafts of the 1800's, come and join other kindred sprits.  Some things the group will participate in are: Education through programs and workshops, the sharing of research, study of diaries, letters, textiles, garments, photographs and original artifacts of the period.  Hands on sewing and craft projects of the period.  Exploration of historical museums and sites here in Florida and elsewhere according to group interest.  Support of historical preservation and educational projects in the community through volunteer activities.  Period social events held throughout the year (lawn party, dances and socials) for fun and a chance to interact outside the military venue.  If you have never been through the Waterhouse Residence and Carpentry Shop located on the property, come early and take the tour. Civil War Re-enactment Events For The Year 2005
 
August 20, 2005 (Saturday).......Pre-season officers meeting.  Gen. Hardy requests all Confederate and Federal officers to attend the annual pre-season officers meeting.  The meeting will take place at Lt. Col. Niepert's house.  I am right in the center of the state.  My house is not far from Disney in Winter Garden close to Orlando.  The meeting will be held on Saturday, August 20th at 11am.  Cookies, sandwiches, cold drinks and snacks will be provided.  Please bring a chair.  I have no way to contact every officer, so please relay this information to your company commander.  If your company commander is unable to attend, please send a NCO in his place.  Let me know how many representatives from your company will be present so we can plan lunch.  There isn't much time so please do not delay in your response.  For more information and driving directions, email me at mayorbob@sprynet.com
 
September 3, 4, 5, 2005.  Battle of Dade City (near Tampa).  Pioneer Day Festival.  This is a Labor Day weekend battle.  Please do not arrive before 4pm on Friday.  There is no battle on Saturday.  You may relax and prepare all day Saturday for the battles on Sunday (the 4th) and Monday (the 5th).    Battles will be at 3pm on Sunday and at 2:30pm on Monday.  There will be no ball.  There is limited authentic and modern camping.  For Artillery Registration, contact Scott (Bob) Anderson at suttler7@knology.net  To get to the event:  From the North of Dade City take I-75 South to exit 61 go East on US-98 to 301.  Go South on US-301 for 6 miles and the park will be on the left side.  St. Petersburg area take I-275 and connect with I-75 to exit 59 go East on SR-52 for 8 miles to US-301 North go through town and the park is on the right.  From Daytona Beach take SR-40 West to I-75 South.  Orlando go SR-50 West to US-301 South the park will be on the left.  Contact:  Pioneer Florida Museum and Village at  curator@pioneerfloridamuseum.org
 
September 17, 2005.  Olustee Civil War Expo, Encampment and Living History.  At the Olustee Battlefield  Historic Site.  Saturday: 10am to 3pm.  Exhibits, military drills by infantry and cavalry, artillery firings, and Union and Confederate camps are on display throughout the day. Speaker discusses Olustee battle history.  Witness women's civilian activities, living history demonstrations and first person impressions. And don't miss the big camp meal, your opportunity to sit down with soldiers and their ladies and eat Civil War food prepared over a campfire. Admission - $3 per car. September 24, 25, 2005.  4th Annual Battle of Farmington (located between Shelbyville and Lewisburg in Tennessee).  Two battles on 100 acres of the original battlefield, living history and music by the 52nd String Band.  $5.00 pre-registration fee before July 1, 2005 - afterwards $10.00 per person.  Sutler registration $10.00; after June 1, 2005, the fee will be $15.00.  Dance, hay, water, free supper, porta potties, etc.  North/South Alliance rules and regulations apply.  Event is limited to the first 250 reenactors - authentic Western cavalry and mounted infantry impressions only.  $100.00 bounty for the first six full scale cannons.  Mounted and dismounted cavalry and mounted infantry needed,  Tactical and scripted battles.  Proceeds go to maintain the original battlefield and the Confederate cemetery.  For information, contact David Stinson, 10th Tenn. October 1, 2, 2005.  Andersonville Battle in Andersonville, Georgia.  There will be two battles and lots of sutlers with many antique and craft shopping opportunities at the businesses along main street.  The Andersonville Civil War Museum and the POW Museum is also very close.  This is a nice little battle for spectators and reenactors alike.  Andersonville is 9 miles north of Americus, GA.  The reenactment site is in Andersonville itself; by the railroad tracks.  To get there, take I-75 North.  Exit at Americus.  Turn West towards Columbus and travel approximately 5 miles and turn right at Andersonville Historical Monument.  Turn right and travel 12 miles to the battle.  GPS position: N32.11.663  W084.07.809  Check their website at http://www.andersonvillega.freeservers.com/  for more information.
 
October 1, 2, 2005.  Parrish Train Raid (southwest Florida).  The Parrish Train Raid is definitely a one of  a kind event.  This a small event with two short battles per day, one at 11am and one at 2pm.  Well, not really battles but attacks on the train as it passes.  The train stops and is boarded by the Federals or Confederates and "captured" or the attackers are driven off by the soldiers on the train.  Reenactors in period dress will be allowed to ride the train free if seating permits, this has not been a problem in the past.  There will be time to interact with the public both on and off the train if you like.  Artillery, Cavalry, Infantry and civilians are invited.  Confederates will camp to the left near the wood line and Federals to the right near the wood line (firewood and water will be provided).  Driving directions: Follow I-275 south until it hits I-75.  Parrish is easy to find.  From south Fla. take I-75 north to Ellenton like you are going to Gamble Plantation. Instead of turning to the west, turn east on Hwy 301 to the town of Parrish.  From Lakeland, go south on Highway 37 (It dead ends in to Highway 62).  Turn west or right on Highway 62 toward Parrish.  When you hit Highway 301, turn right and immediately right into the Post Office.  The train stop is right behind the Post Office.  From Orlando, come Highway 17 south to just south of Bowling Green.  Turn west on Highway 62 and take it all the way to 301. October, 2005.  Battle of Huntsader Farm.  At this time I have no information about this event.
 
October 14, 15, 16, 2004.  School of the Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry and Medical.  Officer and NCO training will also be offered.  Hardy Brigade Maximum Effort Event.  The school will be held at the Crystal River event site.  No civilian spectators.  This is a reenactors school not a battle reenactment.  There will be a chance for the reenactor to burn powder and there may even be an informal "battle".  No sutlers.  No artillery powder ration.  NO AMENITIES.  Bring your own water, food, and other necessities.  Firewood is on site but you will have to find it.  There will be a reenactor fee to cover the cost of porta potties.  Directions: 7 mi. northwest of Crystal River along US 19/98. It is accessible from Dunnellon via SR 488 or take I-75 to Wildwood exit (SR 44) go west on SR 44 when you reach Crystal River take US 19 North.  Go about 7 mi. and the site will be on the left.  As you pass over the railroad tracks, get in the left lane, go about a mile and turn left into the small one lane driveway.  The entrance is just north of the Crystal River power plant and just south of the Cross Florida Barge Canal.  GPS position: N28.56.596  W082.37.329  This event takes place on land owned by Holcim, Inc..  For information, contact Gen. October 21, (Friday) 2005 11:00am to 4:00pm.  Regency Oaks Living History (Clearwater Florida).  Due to the fact that this event takes place on Friday (5 hours) and most people will have to take time off work, the event host is offering a CASH INCENTIVE which will be paid to participants.  A total of $75 per soldier or $100 for husband and civilian wife together, one $10 meal allowance per person - bring your own food, $125 for a set up tent ("A" frame or wall), $150 for a cannon and $10 each time the cannon is shot (if space is available to fire the cannon).  Each soldier who brings a musket will be given a $5 powder ration (for the day) if the weapon is used.  $75 per musician who can play music from the era.  $150 for blacksmith with tools.  This is a living history so remember - period correct type items only.  You must be on site and set up before 11:00am.  Driving directions: Take I-4 West towards Tampa, Merge onto I-275 South, merge onto Memorial Highway/Fl-60 W toward Tampa airport/Clearwater (left exit) Take 60 to McMullen Booth Road and turn right.  Go about 3 lights to Sunset/Main and turn right on Sunset.  Go past the cemetery and at the end of the cemetery is a street called Soule, turn right and go 3/10 of a mile and Regency Oaks will be on the left side.  GPS position: N27.59.657  W082.43.411  Number for Regency Oaks is (727) 791-3381.  For more information and pre-registration, contact Steven Lombardo at fritzy@fritzybrothers.com

November 4, 5, 6, 2005.  Ocklawaha River Raid.  Hardy Brigade Maximum Effort Event.  All are invited to attend the 21st annual reenactment of the March 1865 Union raid and ensuing skirmish with local troops in Marion County.  The reenactment will be held at the Marion County 4-H farm site at the intersection of Highway 464 and Highway 35 just southeast of Ocala.  All branches of service are welcome; there is plenty of room.  Hay firewood, water, portalets, and modern and authentic camping are provided.  Stores, lodging and restaurants are located nearby.  Powder rations provided to the first eight cannons pre-registered.  The weekend will include two battle reenactments, a ladies' tea and civilian activities, and a ball Saturday night.  Driving directions to the site from the NORTH: From I-75 take exit 352 to Hwy. 40.  Go east on Hwy. 40 through Ocala to the town of Silver Springs.  Turn right at traffic light at the intersection of Hwy 40 and Hwy. 35 (near the Silver Springs theme park).  Go five miles south on Hwy. 35 to Hwy. 464.  Go across Hwy. 464; the site entrance is about 100 yards on your left.  Directions from the SOUTH:  From I-75 take exit 341 to Hwy. 484.  Go eight miles east on Hwy. 484 to the intersection of Hwy. 484 Hwy 27/301/441.  Go across 27/301/441 to the intersection of Hwy 484 and 35.  Turn left onto Hwy. 35 and go five miles north; the site is on your right.  The site entrance is on Hwy. 35.  GPS position: N29.08.133 W082.03.211  For more information, contact Major Keith Kohl at cog4flainf@aol.com
 
November 18, 19, 20, 2005.  11th annual Battle at Horse Landing, Palatka, (North) Florida at the Rodeheaver Boy's Ranch.  Hosted by the 3rd Florida Co. A. and Rodeheavers Boys Ranch.  This is the first big battle of the new season and it has always been a good event.  Help is needed for school day on Friday with demonstrations, talks and kid control.  The Friday living history school days always brings thousands of kids in.  Ladies tea on Sat., ball Sat. night.  Authentic earthwork battles take place on very large field both Saturday and Sunday.  Good pyrotechnics display.  Hay and firewood provided.  Hot showers available.  Food and carriage rides for additional fee.  There is a $5 reenactor fee.   All proceeds go to the Boys Ranch for operating expenses and for preservation and maintenance of historic site of Confederate Captain J.J. December 9, 10, 11, 2005.  Ft. McAllister State Park, "Winter Muster" event, Richmond Hill, GA.  This event depicts the fall of the Confederate fortification, the end of Sherman's March to the Sea and the start of the Carolina Campaigns.  They need Federal troopers.  A battalion will be formed focusing on the assault of the 70th OVI.  They would like to have an overwhelming number of riflemen.  Prior to the event, US troops will be camped just away from the fort.  Be ready to eat from your haversack.  There will be a candle light tour that will occur a few hours after the battle with the focus on the taking of the fort and introduction to its new guests.  The following day will continue the living history with the US now in garrison and the CS troops preparing to be sent to Ft. Delaware.  Ft. Civil War Re-enactment Events For The Year 2006
 
January 13, 14, 15, 2006.  DeLeon Springs General Birney's Raid (DeLeon Springs State Park).  This is a hardcore event no women and no children, camping will be she-bang, dog tent or bedroll only.  The battle is a running tactical skirmish.  Please see the following website for more information:  http://web.rollins.edu/~rpfluger/index.htm any questions please contact Rob Pfluger at rpfluger@rollins.edu

January 20, 21, 22, 2006.  The 26th Annual Brooksville Raid, Brooksville, Florida.  Hosted by the Hernando Historical Museum Assoc. and North Pinellas Scout Sertoma Club.  This is a maximum effort Hardy's Brigade event.  The Brooksville Raid is known as the biggest and the best Civil War Reenactment in Florida.  Last year 3,850 reenactors and their families participated in the event along with 24 cannons and 61 mounted cavalrymen.  Help is needed for the school day on Friday the 20th contact Judy Everett at everett_j@popmail.firn.edu if you can help.  This event has lots of sutlers and lots of reenactors.  Two battles (2:30pm); one Sat. one Sun.  Ladies tea will be held at 11:00am Saturday (the women put a lot into this tea and I have been told it is one of the best anywhere), Blue/Gray Ball Sat night at 8:00pm, church Sun. morning.  A $2.00 donation to the event will be required for all reenactors and adult family members participating in the Brooksville Raid.   All reenactors will receive a raffle ticket upon registering for a $100.00 gift certificate (five to be given away) to be used at any of the sutlers in Sutlers Row during the event.  The winners will be posted throughout the camps and at the ball Saturday evening.  Any and all proceeds from this event are split evenly between North Pinellas Sertoma and the Heritage Museum.  Meals and hot showers will be available from the North Pinellas Co. February 3, 4, 5, 2006Renningers/Townsend Battle (Mt. Dora)  Two battles.  This is a maximum effort Hardy's Brigade event.  100 acres to camp and fight on.  Living history exhibits, folk music, weaponry demonstrations, authentic camps, ladies tea, Sunday church service, and sutlers.  Usual amenities.  Cash prize for largest unit and best drills.  Dress ball with 97th Regimental String Band.  Full scale artillery, cavalry, and soldiers in period dress and weaponry.  Cavalry wanted.  Bounty paid for artillery and cavalry.  This event is North of Orlando on Hwy 441 just a couple of miles from Mt. Dora.  As you start down the big hill, look for the Renningers flea market and battle sign on East side of road.  If you are coming down the Fla. turnpike, get off at the new North Apopka exit #267A on the new 429 toll road then turn north on Hwy. 441 and follow the directions above. February 10, 11, 12, 2006.  The 20th annual Civil War Heritage Days.  Key West Florida.  Fort Taylor was a Union held fortress (one of three in Florida).  It served as headquarters for the Union Navy's East Gulf Coast Blockade Squadron.  The event features a parade down the world famous Duval Street to Fort Taylor, artillery and infantry demonstrations, period crafts, a land/sea battle, and a period ball.  New on this year's schedule; a court trial of a captured blockade runner and a skirmish on the beach.  Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park is the site of the best beach on Key West.  Portrayal of life in the Keys in the mid 1800's.  No registration fee but sutlers need to call in advance.  Ft. Taylor has one of the largest collections of coast artillery in the country.  Primitive tent and dry RV camping is available.  Directions, Take US 1 south to mile marker 0 and turn left on Southard Street.  Turn Left and follow the signs to Ft. February 11, 2006.  Lee-Jackson Ball.  Madison, Fl.  Sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans A. Livingston Camp, Perry Camp and the Monticello Camp.  There will be a pot luck dinner (bring a dish to share) and dancing.  Music by "The Down Home Boys" from Lake Park, GA.  Admission is $10.00 per person.  All are welcome.  The event starts at 6pm with a short SCV meeting with the ball following at 7pm.  For more information contact Jim Bard at bjbard@joimail.com

February 17, 18, 19, 2006.  The Battle of Olustee and Living History.  Olustee Battlefield State Historic Site, Olustee, Florida.  Friday is School day  The reenactment takes place on the actual site where the Battle of Olustee (Ocean Pond) was fought.  Visit with thousands of Civil War reenactors, tour the camps, see demonstrations of all types.  Best gathering of Civil War sutlers at any Civil War event with 80+ sutlers in attendance.  Friday is School Day.  Battles Saturday and Sunday.  Full scale artillery only.  No pets, due to concerns for public safety, no fur bearing animals such as cats and dogs will be allowed during the reenactment activities.  This does not apply to horses.  Get there early.  The crowd gets big fast, sign-in and parking can be a hassle.  First time visitors and reenactors to the event should read The Authentic Spectator and listing of activities.  The battlefield is located just fifteen miles east of Lake City on Hwy. 90 from I-75 and 50 miles west of Jacksonville.  Take I-75 to Hwy. 90 exit.  Go east on Hwy. 90.  Drive slow, the signs at the entrance for reenactors have been small and hard to see in the past.  GPS position: N30.12.637  W082.25.508  Contact the Olustee Battlefield Historic Site at (386) 758-0400.  olusteecso@yahoo.com
 
February  24, 25, 26, 2006.  Fort DeSoto Park, Pinellas County, Florida.  Sixth Annual "The Battle of Ballast Point".  The 97th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Re-enactment Regiment, in cooperation with the Pinellas County Parks Department and Fort DeSoto Park, will host an American Civil War Weekend Encampment and Historical Battle Reenactment at the Fort DeSoto Park located in Tierra Verde on the Southern-most tip of Pinellas County, Florida.  The civil war era camps will be open free to the public from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. each day.  Participants will be depicting both Union and Confederate infantry, artillery, cavalry (limited), and civilian impressions.  On Friday, February 25, the camps will be open for tours by elementary school children from surrounding cities and counties.  On Saturday and Sunday, camps will be open to the public with ongoing events all day, climaxing with an historical battle re-enactment each afternoon at 1:00 pm.  Other civil war activities will include period sutlers and vendors, a mock military trial and execution, artillery demonstrations, infantry drills, ladies afternoon tea, drum and fife music performances and civil war medical demonstrations.  A limited number of modern camping spaces will be available on a first contact, first served basis.  Contact event host for your reservation now because modern campers showing up on the day of the event without a reservation will not be allowed to camp.  The 97th PA will provide firewood, hay, and ice.  Reenactors are encouraged to arrive on Friday the 25th and participate in our 'school day' program for almost 800 school children in Pinellas County.  Participating units and artillery contact event host in advance of the event.  There will be a $50 cash bounty for the first four artillery units with a cannon (two Union, two Confederate) that participate at the event.  There is no fee for sutlers, but there will be a limit of those who can set up their shops.  Make your reservation today.  Take I-4 into Tampa.  Get onto I-275 going south (Towards St. Petersburg).  Cross the Bay. Keep going south on I-275, all the way past the Tropicana Field (The Tampa Devil Rays Baseball Stadium).  Keep going south.  Watch for the brown, Ft. DeSoto Park signs.  Exit at 54th Ave. South, and you want to be going westbound on the flyover at the 54th Ave. S. exit.  Keep going west thru the first toll booth.  Make a left turn onto Pinellas Bayway South. It's at the 2nd light, and look for the brown, Ft. March 4, 5, 2006.  Battle of Natural Bridge (North Florida) This battle is held on the original battlefield located 12 miles south of Tallahassee.  This year will mark the 140th anniversary of the battle.  Federal reenactors are needed.  Sponsored by the Florida Park Service, Natural Bridge Historical Society and the Leon Rifles.  No modern campsite is provided.  No fee for reenactors.  Saturday night ball with band.  Hay and water are available as well as a free meal Saturday evening.  There will be military and civilian demonstrations as well as a skirmish on Saturday and the traditional battle on Sunday.  Registration open at 1pm Friday.  Due to the size of the site, we cannot allow any mounted troops.  Artillery is by invitation. The Natural Bridge Event is held at the Natural Bridge State Historic Site which is located six miles east of Woodville.  The best way to find the site is to take I-10 to Tallahassee, exit onto US 27 (North Monroe Street-Exit 199) where you will travel south of US 27 (Monroe Street) until you reach the Florida Capitol.  At this junction, US 27 will turn to the left.  Do not continue on US 27, simply continue to travel south on Monroe Street.  A few miles south of town, Monroe Street becomes Woodville Highway.  Continue to travel on Woodville Highway until you reach the town of Woodville.  Turn left on Natural Bridge Road, go six miles to the site.  The park is located at the point where the paved road ends.  GPS position: N30.17.118  W084.09.140  Contact Mark Rominger at m_rominger@yahoo.com or Chris Ellrich at cellrich@hotmail.com

March 24, 25, 26, 2006.  NEW DATE.  The13th annual Battle at Narcoossee Mill.  St. Cloud Fla. southeast of Orlando by Kissimmee.  Sponsored by the Jacob Summerlin Camp #1516 Sons of Confederate Veterans.  The Battlefield is on 150 acres of open and wooded land on the shore of  East Lake Tohopekaliga.  The event host will be checking coggins papers for horses at the registration desk.  There are no sutler or re-enactor fees.  Friday the 24th is education day which begins at 9:00am; re-enactors are needed to provide demonstrations.  A lunch will be provided for volunteers assisting with the school program.  There will be a ladies tea and military ball on Saturday.  Take Hwy 192 (Irlo Bronson Hwy) to Hwy 15.  Go 2mi North on Hwy 15, look for the park sign.  Another way to get there (from the North) is to take I-4 to the toll road 528 (Beeline Expressway) go east and get off on Hwy 15 exit (Narcoossee Road) go South on Hwy 15.  Another way if you are coming from the Florida Turnpike, get off at exit #244 and go east on Hwy 192 through St. Cloud, then turn North on Hwy 15 (Narcoossee Road).  GPS position: N28.16.448  W081.15.020  Contact the SCV Camp hotline at 407-931-7003 for more information.
 
April 8, 9, 2006.  Parrish Train Raid (southwest Florida).  The Parrish Train Raid is definitely a one of  a kind event.  This a small event with two short battles per day, one at 11am and one at 2pm.  Well, not really battles but attacks on the train as it passes.  The train stops and is boarded by the Federals or Confederates and "captured" or the attackers are driven off by the soldiers on the train.  Reenactors in period dress will be allowed to ride the train free if seating permits, this has not been a problem in the past.  There will be time to interact with the public both on and off the train if you like.  Artillery, Cavalry, Infantry and civilians are invited.  Confederates will camp to the left near the wood line and Federals to the right near the wood line (firewood and water will be provided).  Driving directions: Follow I-275 south until it hits I-75.  Parrish is easy to find.  From south Fla. take I-75 north to Ellenton like you are going to Gamble Plantation. Instead of turning to the west, turn east on Hwy 301 to the town of Parrish.  From Lakeland, go south on Highway 37 (It dead ends in to Highway 62).  Turn west or right on Highway 62 toward Parrish.  When you hit Highway 301, turn right and immediately right into the Post Office.  The train stop is right behind the Post Office.  From Orlando, come Highway 17 south to just south of Bowling Green.  Turn west on Highway 62 and take it all the way to 301. May 20th 2006.  (Saturday only event) Civil War Days skirmish at Heritage in Largo Fla.  Sponsored by Pinellas County's Heritage Village and the Pinellas County Historical Society and co-hosted Co-hosted by the USS Fort Henry and USS Ottawa.  This event allows the spectator to see various aspects of the Civil War era.  Spectators will be encouraged to participate in various "hands on" activities focused on both military and civilian life.  Sutlers, food and beverage vendors will be on site.  The event hosts ask that the reenactors be very pro-active in informing the spectators about uniforms and gear, their units, feelings about the war, etc.  ARMS:  No pre-loaded weapons to be brought on site.  Pistols to be inspected unloaded by the safety officer and tagged.  All weapon firing is to be coordinated through the event hosts.  Artillery powder subsidy to the first two Union and first two Confederate pre-registered field guns (contact Lew Zerfas).  Event opens 9 A.M.  Skirmish (new battle plan) at 2:30 P.M.  Reenactor/sutler/vendor registration:  Gate No. 2 open for registration and setup 7:00-8:30 AM (event opens to public at 9:00).  Participants register inside of gate 2.  Field passes will be issued to reenactors.  Parking:  Only vehicles with trailers (artillery, sutlers, etc.) can park inside fence.  All vehicles must park outside fence to maintain ambience.  Nearby paved parking is just north of the gates.  Public to follow signs and park in the event lot and ride free shuttles to the entrance.  Sutlers and vendors are to contact Heritage Village in advance (727-582-2123)  Reenactor information: Lew Zerfas lewz@knology.net  All to register upon arrival.  Information and location for Heritage Village: http://www.county.pinellas.org/heritage
 
May 20, 21, 2006.  4th Annual Camp Logan Days Living History Reenactment.  Prairie City, Oregon.  Camp Logan was a military post close to present day Prairie City and was established in 1865 by the First Oregon Volunteers and then later occupied by the regular army.  It remained until 1869.  Camp Logan was part of the Department of the Columbia. You will have the opportunity to step back in time and relive the year 1867 and see what life was like at the military camp and the town of Dixie.
